Cheers Rockphoon, kind of you to add some extra interest to the competition.
a nice 42 in your cards as well, don't know about you but I get quite a buzz just breaking the 40 point barrier.

    Cheers

i have left my girlfriend with instructions to purchase a gamo compact.
she is left handed, and i am right handed, this could be interesting!
    what targets do we need?
do we send you the cards?
we should be submitting scores soon.

I'm up for this, not fired my Compact for ages so it'll be good to get it out

Can I clarify some rules please?

I assume it's one handed shooting, as 10m?
Is there a specific height for the target above the floor in the 10m rules?
Had you thought about scans of the targets as an alterntive to photos?

Now to start modding the trigger and adding lead to the front

    Cheers

    John

HI Petroc, nice to have you on board, you must have agreat girlfriend if you can leave her with instructions to buy, if I told mine to buy a gamo compact she would come back with a pot of makeup or a small family car!

Targets are standard NSRA 10m pistol targets.
Rather than get messed up wityh posting and all its hazards, the entrants agreed to be honest and just report their scores here on this thread, they are then updated by me further up the same thread. Their is a token prize of a tin of pellets (High Speed Match Kugeln .177) and Rockphoon is kindly adding a mystery award to a randomly chosen entrant. The competition is really not about prizes though, more to get you to use and become more proficient with your gun and enjoy using it and the challenge of improvement, shooting against others adds that extra motivation.

    Cheers and good luck

    Hi John welcome on board,
    One handed? yes.

Height of target...er I will have to measure my clubs targets and let you know what height they are at, not considered this question before as I assumed most entrants would be club shotters with a standard height target. Good question.

Photos/scans, it was generally felt that we are all honest people on here and as we are not competing for an enourmous prize that submitting scores on this thread would suffice, and not everyone has access to scanners etc. However, should anyone wish to display their cards they are more than welcome to.
When we get Gamo Compact 10m to hit the big time and we get a national team together between us then we may have to address the scrore submission method again!

    Cheers

p.s. monthly scores when submitted are compiled on a relpy further back on this thread.

If your sticking to the ISSF rules then the target height should be:

The centre of the target should be 1.4m +/-0.05m above the level of the floor of the firing point

Not sure if your following the ISSF rules.

    Steve.

    no pistol yet
    but
    just to clarify..
is that the big side on the "in practice you cannot beat bisley pellets" target?
    hope that makes sense.
do we take the lowest score in the event of a broken line?

Hi Petroc, the target we are using ( I hope!) is the 6th target down on thsi webpage http://www.nsra.co.uk/Shop2/Shop_html/airgun.htm

Broken line scores count the highest value.

It's worth buying yourself a lot of these targets in bulk. It costs a bit at first but they will last for decades of shooting.

    pistol arrived!
first 3 shots in a 1" group, i thought " i am going to be good at this!"

after that it all went down hill.
i have a moderate case of "gamo nipple"
we are averaging 25, so room for improvement.

or is it a caSE OF "IF YOU GIVE ENOUGH MONKEYS ENOUGH TYPEWRITERS......"
will try trigger mod, hope to submit some scores soon.

i found a spring in my box of bits that fits the gamo and lightens the trigger pull to about half the weight.
    i found this just right.
there were 2 springs, so if someone wants the other one i will give it to them.
fit it at your own risk blah blah.
pm me addy and i will pop it in the post

    my scores are.
    36 , 33 , 25 , 27.

i seem to be able to get 3/5 in the black, the other two all over the place.
time will tell if the three in the black are lucky, or the two elsewhere are unlucky.

    hiya.
    #my scores are.
    35,31,29,27

the third target was a shame, it was going really well, then i missed.
so i only had 4 on the target.
it will be interesting to see if i can improve over the next few weeks for next months competition.
