    Holts Auction

Thanks Garvin, the Holts site won't load on my PC so this is the first I've seen the results and it looks like my bid on 7063 was a success.

Yeap just had the invoice from Holts, I am now the proud owner of a BSA L Pattern. On a different subject but staying with this auction anyone got any views on the prices realised. The bids on the Colt and esprecially the Walther CO2 pistol are almost as much as a new one once you add the commision.

At first glance some prices seem suprisingly low to me but I suppose some of the guns are in poor condition. It's also easy to think some are incredible bargains until you factor in the commission, Vat, postage costs etc.

How much were the extras on your Light Pattern, over and above the £56hammer price, if you'll excuse the question?

I agree the Colt and especially the Walther prices seem crazy. I expect some buyers aren't aware of 'street' prices and use RRPs as a guide.

I expect sealed bid sales of post-war airguns are a thing of the past now, with the VCR act coming in. Presumably non-antique sales will have to be face to face, register kept etc.

    Holts Auction

Well to answer the question 56 plus com equals 69.18. So not too bad. I agree that most of the airguns there were in poor to average condition. There were four Light Patterns at that sale, I think whilst the one I bid one did not have the best finish there was no pitting and it just felt right if you know what I mean. Can't wait to get it and will keep you up to date. You would have liked the Original 10 they had, Very good condition I think someone got a good buy with that.

Glad you got a good one.

Did Holts charge you for postage too? I rang them once and was put off bidding on a sealed bid item when they said they shift everything down to Norfolk after the main sale, so unless you live down that way you're stuck for postage on top too. They were a bit cagey on the cost of posting too. Still, in your case it sounds like quite a bargain postage or not. Yes, a very good price for a Diana/Original 10 even with the extras.
