    Question a general q?.

i have a bsa superstar with a bsa moderator on.
its mk2 with the plastic shroud on the barrel. i use wasp 5.6 pellets.
most times this is very accurate and surprisingly quiet.
every now and then though i get a sharp crack, and the pellet goes off to the right.
is this something to do with the moderater.
i.e should i take so many shots with it on then so many with it off.
or is the moderater collecting compressed air.
i have to admit, i don`t know the difference between moderater and silencer.

Moderator is a silencer is a moderator (or a TD )
If you are getting the odd shot that cracks and visits the wide blue yonder, you are probably getting a diesel every so often. You don't want to start taking the moderator off and back on as you may shift you're POI

    thanks for the reply steve.
the rifle is a new one, one shot fired. thanks to someone on this board i now own it.
you mention dieseling. i take it this would be due to the manufacturers protective oiling/greasing. how many shots should i expect to get this out.
don`t get me wrong, i`m not new to this game, but it`s the first time i haven`t owned a (well) used rifle.

The old way is (which works), if it's not too overly lubed is to shoot a couple of hundred cheapo rounds down it to bed it in ....... or if you know what you are doing strip the rifle, degrease and relube properly, reassemble (preferable) then shoot a hundred or so rounds to bed it in.
