Do what ever gives you confidence m8... I size, wash and lube, I will be trying some straight from tin again to compare to my usual routine.
I know some who even weigh and inspect every one through jewellers eye piece for imperfections.

if i can get good groups with ease at 55 from the tin, i'll shoot from the tin...did that last year.
this year the batches dont seem so consistant, so i'm weighing and sizing, which seems to help
lubing didnt seem to make any difference.
if it removes a question from my head, it's one less thing to think about or to stop thinking about...
your right rob iv had 2 diffrent batches of jsbs and both shoot diffrent ,

yep, i've got one walther that likes one, and another that likes another...each dislikes the other one's batch...there is a difference in barrels, but it shows there's a difference on average in the pellets.
I don't lube (tried it once, failed to spot any difference) but I do resize (AA Field or JSBs, from 453 down to 452) and weigh them.
Is there a link between the first two questions you posed and the third, or are they to be considered in isolation ?
