Evening all

Very frustrating (busy) month though I have been able to make a bit of time for practice. Not loads, but enough to develop some fresh bad habits reflected in seemingly increasing inconsistency. e.g. couple of night ago, dunno if I was tired or what, but shot a series which resulted in (in order shot) 47 (4 bulls and a 7!), 44(2 bulls, 2 9s and a 6) followed by a 37 (all outside the 9 ring) and a 35 (including a 9 and an 8) And I've done a few other strings like that as well (32/35/43/44).

Bit close to the mark in terms of timing, but here's my scores for April. Tonight I changed the 'chilled out approach to grip and stance to something a bit more rigid. Didn't overcome erractics, but did improve things a tad .....

8,9,9,9,10 = 45
8,9,9,9,10 = 45
5,7,7,9,10 = 38
6,8,8,9,10 = 41

Giving total of 169 and, I think, taking the series right down to the wire, with me and Pagoda within a point of each other. All the best for the last round Mr P.

looking back, you started in the 100's and finished in the 130's good percentage improvement. I think I saw you were going into the other pistol comp, if so I wish you good luck in that one as well, and expect to see your scores climbing steadily upwards.

Thanks, Polly! Yes, once in awhile I get so I can actually make a few holes with that Beeman.

Are we going to have another competition, after our final round in May?

The other comp is fun too: 6 yards with the reduced target: two bulls two-handed, two bulls one-handed. Adds some "combat" flair to it.

Am considering joining the next comp, if there is one, using my FWB80, I'm not a pistol shooter, bought it on a whim, but I'll give it a go. Can I use the targets that JSR have for sale 10m pistol one side, 10m rifle on t'other, each scoring ring seems to be 1.5mm to 2mm larger than the ISSF/NSRA ones, but they're cheap, £26 for 1000

Better still, have a look at the attachments (on this thread) at post number 33 (page 3) and post 84 (page 6).

Which you choose depends largely on the size of your target holder. Either way, if you produce your own like this and stick them on to cardboard (cereal packets or the like are ideal) you'll save more AND be certain that we're all using the same size target.
