Wanted: some bloody interst in shooting

Someone on the Anston forum put this and it pretty much mirrors my opinion on my shooting at the moment. If i'm honest I'm probably just bored of it and have found myself pursuing other hobbies etc. Presumably everybody gets like this? don't they?

I just don't seem to have the motivation to get up and go shooting no more, whether thats because the HFT season is over I don't know.

    Cheers one pi55ed off Arab

    Kieran,

Go out, get minging, introduce yourself to a settling down type girl.
Give it a week or so and you will be dying to get out with the rifle

This year has been one long hard slog for me and if it wasn't for the social aspect of it i could have quite happily walked away from it all. Take a break for a bit and come back with a vengance once you've got the enthusiasm back I've managed to pull through it (massive change in personal circumstances made the difference) and have got the enjoyment back and the form that goes with enjoying what you do.
If i hadn't got the enjoyment back i probably would have walked away from it for 6months,12months, maybe even longer until i was ready to get back into it.

I can't see me ever doing HFT again past around October. I lose the will to live when it's cold, wet and muddy. Warm and wet I can cope with. My hat comes off for the Southern Hunter nutters that can sustain an interest when it comes to rolling round on your guts in a few inches of cold, wet mud.
Hunting anything other than rats (preferably indoors) with an air rifle in winter borders on masochistic and pointless. Time for ferretting and shotguns over decoys. Staying in bed when the weather is really bad or doing girlie(eminantly sensible) FT sitting on a bean bag!

We all get like that from time to time, what you could do is give yourself a project for the winter i.e turning an old minger of a rifle into something thats a joy to shoot.Or what i tend to do is treat myself to something to do with shooting (new scope or something).

Had a phase like you Kieran a few months back.

It gets worse the more you think about it, give it a break, then go and do a comp or something.

You soon get back into it

I think missing the comp. aspect has quiet alot to do with it boys. Don't know why? but have found myself doing more competive sports of late, really getting back into football agian, doing a bit of running too and recently took up airsoft skirmishing.
