    American Silhouette Rules

    What are the rules please for American Silhouette air rifle shooting i.e. metal chickens etc.? I have tried searching the web without success .

    Also, what are the best rifle and scope combinations for this type of shooting?

    Thanks for the web address. However, it is not entirely clear. Would I be correct in saying that for air rifles it is as follows:

    Chickens........20 yards
    Pigs......30 yards
    Turkeys.........36 yards
    Rams.....45 yards

    Five of each with two and a half minutes per bank of animals?

    Stuart - there is a FT competition over at Anston this Sunday and one of the side comps is a Silhouette shoot.

    More details about Anston can be found here -> http://www.anstonftc.co.uk/

    or here -> http://www.nefta.org.uk/

    Yes - that is how we run it in the NEFTA winter league although we don't worry about timing the banks. There is a competition called the NEFTA Classic that is usually run around early May and that features Silhouettes as part of the comp and they are timed. Thecomp will be held at Anston this year (I think) - so not too far from you (see my post above for Anston details)

    HotShot

    Unfortunately, I can't make Anston this Sunday. Also, I need to practice my standing shots before I attempt Silhouettes

    Thanks for the thought though.

    PS Do people use their full FT rigs for this or do they use lighter guns and scopes?

    Most people use their FT guns - weight is you friend as long as the gun is well balanced.

    My advice is to get to some shoots and give it a try. The world is full of people who don't shoot comps for months or even years because they think they aren't good enough and then realise that they could have been enjoying the comps all along.

    This is from the NRA website. They are the governing body for that competition.
