I think the date stamped on is the date it is tested and you just add on the 3year or 5years to get the test date
Just because its used for your air gun doses not make it any different from diving with respect to testing the only difference is what you use the contents for!
Cylinders should be pressure tested every five years and have an internal visual check (for corrosion) every 2.5 years. The stamps on the cylinder show the date of the last test. Usually a sticker is placed on the cylinder to show the date of the next test and the approved contents. If a visual test is missed then the next test becomes a full pressure test even if the five years are not up.
Hope this helps.
Filling centres do not know how or what youuse your cylinders for so have to treat them the same. Cylinders for commercial use may have slightly different regulations.

Anyone Back That
I bought my bottle new 12months ago and i'm fairly sure i remember reading some where, either on the bottle or in the paperwork that came with it, that it's next test was due in 5yrs time.
getting close now so 5 year for on land bottles??
cheers
mate
It is every 5 year for surface use only(airgun refilling).Your local dive shop will tell you exactly when it requires a test as they have a serial number that they check to see how long is left on the test.Cost about £35 to have one tested.
