You just have to remember no matter what a scope costs or what name is on there it won't suit everyone, now i love my MK4 10x40 but both Jane and Mark Wall couldn't get on with one.

So as always with anything try to get a look at one first.

For anyone wanting a slightly cheaper option or a similar scope with IR available then the MK4 3-9x36/2.5-8x36 MR/T could be a viable option. The slightly lower mag and smaller objective means that the DOF is even greater than the 10x. However, as others have said they can be a leap of faith. So far mine isn't quite working for me for reasons I'm not yet able to pin down.

A distinct possibility but I seem to be marginally less pi33 poor with my Nikko Snipers!

I'm certainly not parting with my SS even if the MK4 works for me. If I don't put it back on my MFR I'll just have to buy another rifle to sit it up on. It's too good to sell.
Should get the MK4 early next week. Wonder if its the first in Ecosse?

Out of interest to anyone interested in a Mk 4, here's an email
    just received.

    "Hi Derek,

Leupold say they can reparallax the 10x fixed scope to min 20 yards, max
approx 50 yards. It will cost $US 70."

Would this be a good move, or is the standard scope ok for the real close (8 yarders) ones as it is??

I can only speak from my experience but my 10x40 will focus useably down below 8 yards without having the PX altered at all after it's left the factory.

    Hi Derek

This is what we found out a few weeks ago

most of our side focus scopes will focus considerably closer than the engineering spec we publish. Exactly how close varies by individual scope, though, so we don’t get too carried away. You are correct about some going down to 10 or so, though

    Pete
