Your gun is possibly a transitional model between Mk1 and Mk2. It seems to have the Mk2 rearsight, and if it were a true Mk1 it would have had the provision for a telescopic sight to be fitted.

Hi All
Iv got an airsporter in poor condition but it appears to be in good working order. It is a Mk1 according to the serial number G010221 but it has scope rails and a nikko Sterling Silver Crown 4X32.As I said its in poor condition but complete and working.....Whats it worth ?.
I also have a strange little gun.I brought it about 20 years ago from an antique shop. Its tin plate and has the word Ideal on both sides. Its a pencil firer !....Any idea on the value ?.
I forgot to say the airsporter is .22

hi, i am no expert on these, and am sure i will be corrected if wrong but i dont think they did a GO serial no, maybe its GD, IF ITS A .22 then i would say its a mk2, as far as i know mk1 never had scope ramps
value ? not sure ill leave that for someone else
best regards

Hi all
Iv no real idea which MK the airsporter is and Iv double checked the serial number and I think I got it right though it could be a D rather than a 0.
Can anyone give me a rough idea of prices for these as I need to top up my paypal account and spend some money on a well known auction site
cheers
Si

Looks like a Mk2 to me. The D in the serial number prefix GD can look like an O. I believe Mk1's in 0.22 went up to prefix GC before introduction of Mk2 in Sept 59, the C could possibly look like an O but as only 3000 were made this option seems unlikely. GD's were made up to 1967 I think, my own Mk2 bought in 1964 has a serial number in the 34,000"s, not sure of final number but your serial number (if GD) would fit in there quite nicely.
Classic BSA and Webley rifles and Pistols
When does collecting change from a hobby to an obsession?
Hi, seen one advertised in about the same condition for £45 +p&p
A local gunshop also had one in nice order for £125.
I've got a Mk2 myself ser.no. GF2786,, with folding rear sight and pop-up tap, if I remember right it's a 1967.
Would be interested in yours if your selling (for spares if nothing else).
Hope this helps.
Steve
Your Airsporter looks 100% mk11
The big give-away is that it has a brazed-in and parallel barrel
The mk1 has a lovely tapered barrel that is part of the breech block.
The loading tap in the pics is mk11 and the rear sight is also mk11 as stated above
Hope this helps
