    who owns who?

Well, that is the question, BSA have supposedly been taken over by Gamo, as have Brocock it is said.
Now there is a rumour that the same has happend to Theoben, and whats this with the Simmons, Crossman, Logan tie up, who owns who there?. Gamo have enough financial clout to buy most of the British aigun makers, so who's next?.

There are even rumours about Daystate.

BSA is quite definitely owned by Gamo (since 1986), I'm afraid. Dunno about any of the others, but it's a fine set of rumours .

Its generally not a big deal when companies get bought out. The manufacturing quality and such things tend to stay the exact same so there is no worry of getting a BSA SuperTen with a Gamo trigger (the thoughts are going to give me nightmares). In some cases prices will go down and some cases the prices will go up but the quality usually stays the same. A good example would be like Mercedes Benz. Even though they are now owned by Chrysler the fine German quality pretty much has remained the same.

I thought Daimler Chrysler was a joint venture not a buy out. Could anyone clarify this point?

    !

You mean Gamo actually makes a decent trigger?!? All their own brand airguns use an awful, creepy, pseudo-2 stage paperlip and biro spring kind of effort (as sold to Theoben to use in their Rapid Mk 1), don't they?

The more I look at my newish Fenman the more I think perhaps I should have bought an SMK springer!. As for the stock have they been taken over by a certain Scandinavian mass furniture maker?.
