Main-spring grease - quick confirmation required.

Am I right in thinking that too much grease on the main spring will lower the muzzle velocity?

Yep, in my experience that's how it goes.

Put a new spring in the '80 and I had a feeling I may have over done the grease. Cannot explain a fall in velocity of 50 ft./sec.. Piston washer was okay, so I am assuming it's the excess grease on the main-spring.

Will fix it in the morning. 2:40 a.m. here.
