How the heck do you get your finger infront of a loaded Rattie?

shooting from the winda, holding onto the plastic, rattie in shoulder

bis mag clipped the silencer so he slid it right down the barrel making it super carb

just happened to have his finger in the wrong place the poor guy

shame too for the first time in a long while he was enjoying my rifles

    Sounds familliar

I know a guy who lost his left hand 'trigger finger' in a simillar fashion, only difference is he did it with an MP5k.....Lost 2 joints of his finger and now has a rather fetching stump

His mistake was the primary reason all MP5k's were withdrawn to have the safer front end (with lip to stop your hand getting to close to the bang-ouch end)

I did a similar one; it seems very long ago now; with a Crosman pump-up pistol, fitted with a bespoke, and individual, (home-brewed, lash-up) rifle stock. In those days, I used to go for a grip at the front end of the stock, and extend my second digit (for piano players) in the direction of fire. I only got grazed, but the evidence is still there, as the skin is still thick. No experience is wasted though as it made me re-examine my front hold, and it actually paid dividends in accuracy. Pain, and accepted stupidity, can be good teachers.

What I can't understand is, why do I ALWAYS think I can kickstart other people's old bikes?

Had a stepson once nearly lost his thumb when an air rifle snapped shut on his thumb whilst range shooting at school. Also heard locally of a chap who put his thumb up behind the slide on a Colt 45 Auto.
Slide ripped his thumb and hand back on recoil.Ah! those were the happy days of pistol ownership !

I heard of a bloke who got his finger chopped off in the loading port of an underlever air rifle- blew the mashed remains out of the barrel!

GAZ sorry to hear about your dads accident ,it just goes to show that even a relitively low powered air rifle can still be very dangerouse .I have just shown my 7 year old son your post as he shoots a rat catcher with a cut down stock to remind him that even though his gun is much smaller than any of mine you still need to allways be carefull and treat them as if they were fullbore when it comes to safety.
