Since (sadly) it appears that the Ruger Old Army has been discontinued: what (else) would you recommend as a rugged BP revolver?
If I get one, I want to spend my time shooting it, not replacing broken parts on it!

Buy a second hand Ruger Old Army. I'm now at over 2000 consecutive shots through mine with every shot going off as expected and no cap jams etc. It just works.

Ruger old armys are still around second hand and are an exellent
bp revolver, look after it and you will never wear it out. I had one
but found it heavy for my gammy wrist and the grip was too short
which meant my little finger wasnt on the grip.
Have been shooting my .44 Rogers and Spencer for about 7 years
now and it has been totally reliable apart from the screw that holds
the chamber pin in place which i managed to bend by not turning
it to its locked position before loading. Grip is slightly bigger than
the Ruger and gun is lighter. Its easy to load and shoot and holds
a far better group than i am capable of. Mine is the standard model
in London grey but they are also available with target sights.
I would recommend anyone who finds the Ruger too big to give
the Rogers a try.

ROA are by far the best BP pistol. I know someone who has four new ROA, due for delivery soon, it will be your last chance to get a new one, pm if interested.
