I don't know if anyone out there has caught any of the Terry Almond articles in The Shooting Sports over the last couple of issues concerning his return to competitive FT & his subsequent re-equipping.
It's been quite interesting & I would of thought a boon to anybody thinking of getting set up for this GP season. I certainly would of loved to come across something like this last year before I started.
Last month was rifle selection & this issue deals with scopes, bare bones, two pages, straight to the point stuff. Next month is scope set up.
Just wondered what anyone else had thought of it?

I personally thought it was crap
There was no information on the various rifles & their pros & cons, he just tells you what he chose, the whole article was just an AA EV2 advert
This months article on scopes wasn't much better, especially where he says if you look at that results at national FT events & the same names keep cropping up......he names the main ones such as Leupold, Burris, BSA & Big Nikko but then names AGS & MTC???? I never heard of the last two cropping up regularly, if at all. I also wasn't aware that Dan Eley has won lots of Silverware with an AGS SWAT
He then goes on to suggest that the S&B FT scope is rare because of it's price, it's rare because they haven't made any for sale & only given one each to James Osbourne & Tim Finley in GB.
These articles could easily give the wrong information to a beginner who might then buy totally the wrong kit, new shooters are best going along to a club & getting advice from actual shooters.

Point taken Pete, but I read it as a, 'My journey back to FT' type thing rather than a 'How to' deal. It's nice to get FT mentioned at all in the press.
BTW I also enjoyed the article about your FT & HFT mods on your Dommies in AGW.
GP season soon, can't wait. Let the suffering commence!![]()
