BSA 240 Magnum (Spares or Repair)

Gun Now sold to Andy001. Thanks for looking

    Hi All,

Here is an opportunity to grab some hard to get spares for this increasingly sought after pistol.

This pistol was sold to me some time ago, as a perfect working example in .177 calibre, however I later found out that one of the small locking lugs has sheared off, meaning that the pistols lock up is not very positive. I have kept it a while, but now feel it is time to move it on.

I offer it for spares or repair (instead of trying to rip someone off) so am offering it as an imperfect gun for 55.00 +post (a lot less than I paid for it) in the hope that someone may be able to repair it. It is in good nick with good screws etc however there are one or two marks to the bluing on the barrel.

Here are some pictures so you can see for yourselves how good the gun is.

First person to state on thread that they will buy it and then follow up with a PM will get it. Please do not reply by PM until you have stated on the thread that you will take it - That way everybody knows what is going on ...

    Here are the pictures

This last picture shows the sheared off lug on the left hand side. This means that currently the pistol only locks on the right hand side.

    Thank you for looking.

Thank you for the interest, however just to let everyone know I am really after the 55.00 quid + post, as despite the guns faults I feel it is worth this. Also at this price I am already taking a substantial loss

Andy_J has first refusal at the moment, followed by Andy 001.

    Please come back to me.

    Thanks again

Andy J currently has first refusal as he was the first person to state interest in the gun on thread.

Andy 001 the gun is now yours at 55.00 + post if you want it .

Andy_J asked me to make everyone aware that the part that needs to be replaced on this pistol (the main component in the slide) is now no longer available from either Chambers or Knibbs. This may influence your decision to buy so I am making all parties aware.

All the best and thank you Andy_J for your interest.

Andy001 and all other interested parties.

I have just fired a couple of shots through the gun and on both occasions the recoil popped open the slide.
The single remaining lug appears not to be man enough to keep the slide locked.

I guessed that would be the case, That is why it has always been a non-firing example in my collection, and that is why I listed it as a spares or repair gun - just to avoid any mis-understandings.

I reckon a little bit of metal could be welded onto the slide and then shaped into the missing/broken lug. Any repair would be invisible from the outside as the lugs are covered by the outer layer of the slide. Alternatively just keep the gun for spares, so that you can refurbish any 240's that come your way at a later date. the cost of the spare parts alone add up to more that 55.00 quid, so you are onto a winner here......
