    Shooting and eyesight

    Hello all,

Having read through the poll on eye usage during shooting, I began to wonder how those shooters with dodgy eyesight manage and if they have any problems joining a club or applying for an FAC?

I am longsighted and have a lazy left eye, so tend to close it while shooting with a scoped rifle but do use both eyes for shotgun.

I would imagine that target shooting would be easier for people with sight problems in that they know that the target is ahead of them and they can find it by looking through their scope. And on a range they can shoot in relative safety, knowing that no one is going to get in the way of the target.

Out hunting in the field is a bit different I guess… you have got to spot your bunny before you can shoot it.

Are there any restrictions regarding eyesight in relation to having an FAC? I just wondered, because if you have someone who can only see, say 20 yards but is shooting a gun with an effective range out past 100 yards……..

    As I say, just wondering.

Do what I do I have dodgy eyes ( no master) I shoot with my right eye to the scope and have a Butler creek cover which when open is in front of my left eye, that way i can shoot with both eyes open and get a perfic site picture. simple but effective.
