just bought one of these hw45 lookalikes . at the end of the piston there is a an allen type grub screw , whats it for anyone know

If it's the one I think it is (as on my HW40) it keeps the pivot pin linking the piston rod to the overlever in place. At the other end of the air cylinder, next to the valve housing, there's a similar arrangement to keep the air cylinder/frame pivot in place.
