I think you had it right.
Now I know theres a risk of putting the cat amongst the pigeons, but I have been wondering as to which pre-PCP is best. I have a FWB65, Model 6 and (got last week) a model 6M, I have also shot most of the contempory pistols. Whatever I shoot I always go back to the FWB65, I enjoy the others, but the FWB just 'works' if you know what I mean and the quality is without equal in my opinion.
On the rifle front I shoot a FWB300s and love it, but was very impressed with the LGR I (stupidly) let go a while back.
What do other people think?
I think you had it right.
Original 75 for the rifle and FWB 90 for the pistol.

FWB 80 pistol and FWB 300/s fantastic target guns IMO

FWB 300s and original 75 both belong in the collectors section.
The best rifle is the FWB 700.
If you are tempted to buy a pcp keep well away from the Walther
300 series .
In my league we have had seven of these break down all with the
same fault.
Walther do not want to know, the dealer says (send it back to Germany)
The part costs £200 and that is if you fit it yourself.

The best pre-PCP target rifle I've shot is the FWB 602. I'll award second place to the Diana 100.
However, I think the 602 is on first place because I haven't shot with an FWB 603.
As far as pistols are concerned, the best I've shot is the Baikal IZH-46M. The grip is horrible, though.
Cheers,

As Topi says, the best pre-pcp rifles were single stroke pneumatics, of which the FWB 600 series was possibly the best (and the only one still made), though Walther's LGR, the Anschutz 2001 and Diana 100 shared the top table. The best pre-SSPs, ie. recoilless springers, were probably either the Diana 60/65/66/75 Giss guns, the FWB150/300 series, or the Anschutz LG250/380, depending on whether function or form are more important to you. Going back further to pre-recoilless springers, the Walthers LG53/55
(plus the later LGV) were probably the best of their kind as pure match rifles. The HW55 was in the running but it was also a sporter and not a pure match gun.
IMO.
On Stirton.com March 28th Yardman9 said FWB had stopped the production of the 603 SSP air rifle.

You're right Peter. They must have just stopped making it. It also says "no longer available" on the website. Shame. You can probably still buy a new one from German dealers though, if you're quick.
you want one of these
