    Thumbs up more long range:)

ok guys, spent a whole day at the range today, weather was fine at 24degrees celcius and with something to drink at my side i was ready to spot and shoot all day.
started out by confirming a 45meter zero and going out slowly confirming my comeups for each distance. the wind was a steady 3-4 mile/hour altough we did have gusts of 6mph and these would at some point blow me off left. wind as you will see on the card was from 1 o'clock . at the 130ish range a
2mile/hour gust over your previous correction will mean 0.5 Mils of right or left which is 7cm(almost 3")

    45m starting point

    70m

90m this one was exceptionally good

110m notice groups start opening up but very slowly. needless to say i was already giggling.

    some data we where recording
    http://pic18.picturetrail.com/VOL888.../315597367.jpg

here is a data sheet showing amount of wind drift for 31grain barracuda at 917ft/s for a 1mile/hour Full Value wind. I have been working on these numbers for a while to see how accurate they are and they seem to work out to about 131m however i need more time at it and some more pellets down range.

last but not least 8 shots at 145meters (159yards)

have some more photos to post. some where taken while i was reading wind conditions. a young friend of mine at the club was realy keen to have a go. with rifle all setup and dialed he popped two balloons at 131m and also a packet of cigarettes. needless to say the young shooter was as happy as a lark. I did the spotting and marked the hits on the data sheet then we changed over and the young shooter did a fine job. he's still 14 but will make a great shot in a short while. what i noticed is that 2mph increase in wind at distances beyond 110m will realy upset that nice forming group and it is difficult to sense a difference between 3 and 5mph. at one point we where guessing a wind condition dial up or down according to our previous 3mile/hour reference and squeeze only one shot. we had 3 occasions at 131meters where the first shot was exactly center for windage and just lower or higher by an inch! i was laughing my A$$ off hope you enjoy it and soon another video clip will be on the way.

    Great fun!!
    Looking forward to the video!
It does make you giggle when you are dropping pellets into ting circles at that range!
