Whats the lowest you can turn the power down to on an fac career either in carbine or long? I mean for those situations when 45ft/lbs is a wee bit much.... ?

reduce the port size.plus a much weaker hammer spring, for 12 ftlb its also best to choke the main valve, this gives you loads more shots than a standard 12 ftlb job.

Rangeright's Gunsmith is a chap called Dave; nice guys, know what he's doing, and even if JY where still here, I'd be recommending Dave

If I understand the question correctly, you want a 45 FP FAC conversion, but the ability to turn it down using the power wheel ? If so, this is pretty easy, just needs the correct stem, but it won;t be very efficient at the low power unless you you go Kev's route...

NB I actually still choke my valve down on my FAC K, running just under 40..

Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

You have to remember that if you have them tuned down, you will then have to have them tuned back up if you require higher power later on reducing port sizes, regulators, hammer springs etc is all hit and miss, you have to be prepared to get under the hood as well, mine was shooting well in to the 80's, and took a fair bit of work to bring it down to where it is now, with a good number of power shots, low noise and regulated power. this was not a bodge job, it was done for consitency as a hunting gun.

I am sure Jon will fill in any blanks in this region as he has a wealth of knowledge concerning these guns.

    I hope this helps

Look at the MAC1 airgun site. They customise these guns before sale. I cannot verify it but they are a very reputale company in the field of Sheridans. In conversation I gather they increase the range (travel) of the adjuster and are quoting 8 - 80 FT Lbs on their site. This is not a bolt on and they need the gun. If you have an FAC speak to a competent gunsmith/engineer. It is possible

    You do realise?

How many shots do you think you will get out of an 80ft lb monster? About 8-10! Good for Coyote maybe but over here?

    Thanks everyone,
Spoke to rangeright this morning. Very helpful. Says it can be set up to have 40 as a max and that'll mean around 14 as the lowest setting which sounds pretty much what I'm after.
    Oh . and it's £40 plus p+p. not too bad I thought.
    cheers.
