Don't use Balsa, far too soft. I have always made mine from Oak because thats what I had handy. Beech would be good. Easiest way is to roughly draw out the shape and then use a dremel to fine tune. Trick is to get it roughly right then take small amounts until it feels right Then shoot 50 odd shots and you will feel any problems areas, repeat until spot on. Also remember you can always take more off but its harder to put it back on. I have also thought about making grips with air-cure latex (about £6 off fleabay), could work very well if done right.

    Greetings Jonno,
nice one thanks, maybe you could work on these latex grips as a side line ?
surely when Balsa has been varnishd/sealed etc it will harden it ?
i notice being fairly local to myself, i hear of a club in the sutton area ? what do you know off ?
    thanks
