Difference between UK and USA gun

I am trying to find out if a USA spec Crosman 2240 would be legal to import to the UK.

Ideally, who should I contact to get a difinitive answer?

I would be happy to modify it to reduce the power (if it is too powerful), but by that time would I have broken the law?

Perfectly safe to import one. I've had a Ratty and 2289 via personal imports. The US speced. ones are no different.

The 2250 and the 2260 are the same in USA and UK, the 2240 is NOT!

However, I don't think that the Customs will know/check......

The Swedish 2240 is the same as the US version, the 2250 is different.
The 2260 is not sold at all in Sweden (I haven't found any).

It's all about the max non-FAC power levels in each country:

US: Unlimited
UK: 6 and 12 fpe
Sweden: 7.5 fpe



EDIT: US 2240 have a claimed vo = 460 fps, UK 2240 have 425 (Uttings).

As the 2240 has an optional removeable stock, if this was fitted, would it qualify as a rifle, and therefore be well under the FAC requirements?
