Shield Practical Shotgun Open Summer Challenge

The Shield Practical Shotgun Open Summer Challenge takes place on Friday 6th, Saturday 7th, and Sunday 8th June at Steve Pike’s Shield ranges in Dorset.

The match consists of 14 stages, of which three are slug, one is buckshot (SG buckshot) and nine birdshot (max Nos 5). Total 42 slug, 24 buck and approx 130 bird. (The slug will be a very useful warm-up for those going to Germany at the end of July).

In the traditional way at Shield, shooting will be split between six stages up in the woods – transport laid on there and back – and eight stages down by the clubhouse. The woods may be damp underfoot depending on the weather.

This is not an IPSC approved competition, and shooters will find the usual Shield muzzle angle restrictions in force. The plus side is that it is open to all who have a section 1 shotgun for target shooting & as the match does not have to undergo the IPSC approval process, many no-longer seen traditional stages and target presentations can be included. This will be a superb, old style, demanding, fun, shotgun competition and I can tell you that it is not to be missed.

To enter, please telephone Steve Pike on 01308-482626 or email him at: steve@shieldshootingcentre.co.uk Be quick if you want to shoot on Saturday as that day is already almost fully booked.

Entry fee is £35, ROs entry fee £24. Start time is 9.00 a.m. for booking in, and 9.45 a.m. for the start of shooting.

The competition is open to both UKPSA members and shooters who are not UKPSA members. Catering is by Biddy.

There were 14 stages to this match & it was certainly well worth the trip from the midlands down to Shield in Dorset for a great day's shooting & a brilliant evening in the Ilchester Arms after.

here are a few video's of some of the stages.
