From the pictures Ican find on the bbs and other forums as well as the geneneral net these rifles seem to have much more charcater than a lot of the modern offerings. I think I am going to concentrate on these rifles for the foreseable future.

I had seen some rifles from the pre war era and had dismissed them as ugly but said the same about some 1970-80's rifles which I now find appealing, so will probably go for some of them too if I can find any for sale.

Last time I was abroad I came across a gunsmith who had a pile of old airguns, and like a retard I did not even take a look.

So jam butties for the wife and kids for a bit as I look to buy.

This is one of the funny things about collecting; rifles you once dismissed as ugly become must-have desirables almost overnight.

That depends if your buying or selling.

My list of top ten includes:

    Airsporter (Mk1, 2 or 'S')
    Mercury 'S'
    BSF 55/55Dl or 60.
    335
    Original 50 (early)
    Original 45
    HW35 (Vixen )
    HW55
    Webley Omega
    FWB Sport.

My not including the Webley Mk3 was not an oversight.

Youve got to have the BSA Cadet Major in the list. Its the one of the most elegant air rifles ever made.
