    Fitting a Harris Bipod to a HW100

Can you just fit the standard bipod (HBR-S1) or do you need to get one of the adapter plates (HB9) for flat fore-ends when fitting this to a HW100.
    As in these links.

I just used a normal QD stud (the nut and bolt type, not screw thread). I glued a piece of aluminium on the inside of the stock (about 5mm thick) and bolted through both the wooden stock and ali plate. It feels stong when the Harris is mounted, and hasn't split the stock.

Standard QD stud will be fine-pm my shooting partner tonyd on here-he has just bought a HW100 and fitted a bipod to QD stud on his (Rockmount type-Harris copy), I have a JSR Bipod fitted fine on my S200 using QD stud only and that rifle has the flattest forend going.

    Bipod stud

Can't remember who does it but there is a bipod stud that doubles up as the forend stock screw as well. It basically replaces the stock screw with an ingenius screw that has a stud at the top instead of a hex screw. Someone must know it? No need to drill the stock then!

This stud was in one of the mags a while back: Mascalls Guns, I think. Couldn't find it on their website the other day, though - I want 2 of them.

Surely it depends on what rifle you have etc....

On my Falcon and S200 the front stock screws are halfway down the forend and nowhere near far forward enough to mount a bipod on, imo the bipod needs to be as far forward as possible to get the right balance without it looking odd.

    QD stud

The reason someone makes this stud (correct me if I'm wrong anyone) is that the stock screw on the forend is far enough forward to be used in this manner.

Just ordered one of these - the price is now £5.99, not because of profiteering, but because they were getting lost out of normal envelopes and are now sent in a Jiffy bag.

Still a good price for a super idea!

    Cheers,
