    Need A Full Power Pistol

    Hi,
As You Probably Know I Am Quite New To This Forum.

I Need A Full Power Pistol And Have A Budget Of £100

What Is The Best Pistol I Could Possibly Buy For This Sort Of Price Range As The Price Given Is A Rough Price.

It Would Be Nice If Anyone Of You Have Anything To Sell To Me That Meets My Requirements But Suggestions Are Also Welcome.

Crosman 2240 or you could for an extra £50 pick up something like the HW45. The 45 would be cheaper in the long-run as it doesn't require 12GRAM CO2 carts by the bucket.

Look for a second hand BSA Scorpion, seriously, they are loads of fun and satisfying to shoot, give it a service and fit a Helston Gunsmiths spring, if you do it right you'll be getting a consistent and smooth 5.5 ft/lbs plus. HW45s only do that sort of power when they're deiselling in my experience, 4.5 ft/lbs is typical for them.

Really we need to know the kind of shooting you're going to be doing to be able to give useful advice.

What do you call long range and what sort of target?

as for shooting vermin i would advise against it, even with a full power pistol accuracy is very important and most people are not that accurate enough with a pistol to deliver a clean kill. there fore not a humane kill. I would suggest a rifle of at least 9 ft/lbs. But hey i could be wrong and i'm sure Mr T.D will put me right if i am.

I have just bought a gamo 45 which seems to be quite powerfull. Not sure how much power, I presume the same as a gamo compac. Will test it in a while and let you know.

it is considered a no-no to hunt anything with air pistols although they are accurate, sadly the shooter isn't.

if you don't want a rifle then i'd suggest that hunting is out of the question.

Why exactly don't you want a rifle?

And where do you intend to "hunt" with it?

I've got two Magnums and love them a lot (they are accurate with practice and a lot of fun, satisfying to shoot and compact), but for ease of maintenance and tuning, also for outright power the Scorpion is better IMO.

I wouldn't use any pistol for ratting unless it was a powerful (right near the limit) and accurate one with a shoulder stock added, and you could shoot it accurately as well.
