    Makarov Barrel removal.

    Ok, am I missing something?

    Apparently it just 'unscrews'.

    How where and um.. how!

I'd love to get a replacement barrel made up with a screwcut end for a moderator... a Mak with a mod == sex

Very early models are welded in

if not, after removing top slide, grip barrel and just unscrew,

    BUT

make sure magazine is in situ before attempting

Hmm. I gripped with pliers (had something between the tool and the barrel) and it didn't budge.

T03 56469 is my serial number - can't find my manual to give you a date of manufacture though.

T03 = year 2003 so should be fine,
grip and sharp twist to left (anti-clockwise) looking from front
will do it,keep mag in though
pliers may not get proper grip, use molegrips and lock on

I gripped the barrel in a vice after wrapping in a scrap of aluminium sheet to prevent damage then turned the grip and frame anticlockwise it loosened easily.

    unscrew mak barrel

i followed your advice put in vice unscrewed very easy, soldered on a piece of 1/2 inch unf thread and screwed on a logun silencer.i also cut down the gas screw and drilled out the mag port and mag feed so that lead bbs can be used with no jams.

Thanks. I take it I'm not going to be using a little 25W soldering iron then!

    Nice Mak !

Smallholder - what did you use for the 1/2" bit you soldered onto the barrel?
Does this mean that the Top Slide cannot be removed or did you cut down the originla barrel tip on a lath , so the Slide can still be slid forward and off ?

Whatever happened to the guy who posted a few posts re his intended Makarov customising service - posted pics and detaisl - some guy up in Scotland - never replies to PM's and emails - in fact last time I checked he had not been on in ages .....
