    Meteor Power

Just a quick question for those in the know. Would a .22 BSA Meteor be powerful enough for shooting rats at 10M ?

    Yup it certainly would
I think the average 22 Meteor does about 525fps with a 14.5grain pellet, which is about eight and half foot pound.
When i had mine a good clean up inside and some decent seals and a new spring pushed it to about 560fps/10foot pounds. I did get it to go higher but it all started to get a bit twangy

    Have fun rat blatting

    YOU BETCHA

My 1974 Meteor does 9.5 with a standard spring and FTTs in .22 so that should knobble rats out to 30 yards.

Its a great gun for rats, very handy and quick to reload.

Meteors prior to 1994 (classic Meteors) makes around 560 fps and 10 ft/lbs if they are in good shape.

New Meteors (made of Gamo parts) makes around 475 fps and 7 ft/lbs measured with .22 Crosman Premiers.

For calibre 177 with CPL my Meteors makes 670 fps equal to 8 ft/lbs as Mk VI and 705 fps equal to 8,70 ft/lbs as Meteor Mk V.
