    gamo revisited

i looked back through the postings to see what was said about gamo rifles. I was suprised to see they were a bit slated. I own a 440 in 22cal and i am more than happy with it the accuracy is good it is reliable and well made. I realise there are better rifles on the market however here in nz they are not cheap a decent webly or hw is twice the price . the point im making is that the best thing about air rifles is they are inexpensive. if i was going to spend two weeks wages on a rifle i would buy a 22 rimfire ruger semi auto or similar and have better accuracy far more firepower and lest weight to cart about .

I've got nothing against Gamo. For several years my main rifle was a CF30. It obviously won't break any accuracy or power records, and to start with peformance was a little inconsistent, but once I'd put a couple of tins of pellets through it it settled down nicely. It was a little pellet-fussy, preferring Gamo's own brand pellets to H&N FTT, which are my general preference. However, it filled its share of game bags, and though I now tend to use a Webley PCP or an Xocet, I still use the CF30 from time to time and get good results from it.
