Service it, replace the piston head and breech seal, lubricate it with modern lubricants, it will be much much sweeter to shoot and will last longer too.
is there anything i could do to my tempest to reduce the recoil its in .177 and really harsh when firing,no bad sounds etc just bad recoil.

I back-up the advice about giving it a good tune-up. The.177 Tempest always kicks a bit harder than the .22, I think. But that's all part of the fun and is part of the reason why the Webley pistols make good trainers for using cartridge pistols.
