    Recommended BP books?

Got bitten by the BP bug but it will be a few months before I can apply for a FAC etc., so I thought I might use the time for a bit of reading and I wondered if anyone could recommend any books on the subject?

Main areas of interest are percussion cap single shot pistols and revolvers, history, models, maintenance, shooting techniques, etc.

    any advice gratefully received
    regards
    Nigel

    Hi Nigel,

I recieved a very good book this morning from Amazon (as I too have been bitten by the black powder bug )

It is : The Definitive Guide to shooting - MUZZLE LOADING PISTOLS By Derek Fuller.
I haven't had a good chance to read it yet, but having a quick look through, but it covers a wide range of subjects, from history, classic single-shot percussion pistols, muzzle loading revolvers, flintlocks, to calibres and bore sizes, bluing and browning and balls, powders and velocities. It seems to be quite a comprehensive book, although quite small, at 144 pages, it's full of information, line drwings and photographs.
The price varies wildly on amazon, but this one is classed as used, because of a very small crease in the top of one page. But you can see it hasn't been read. Just over £6.00 incl p&p.
The ISBN No is : 1-86126-482-8.

    Definately worth a look !!!

    All the best
    Baz

I just bought and started reading PERCUSSION PISTOLS AND REVOLVERS: HISTORY, PERFORMANCE AND PRACTICAL USE, by Johnny Bates and Mike Cumpston.

Gives a very good overview of the subject for a novice like me.
