Unhappy Morini 162 EI Problem - advice needed

Hello, New to the forum and after a bit of advice please.

I have a Morini 162 EI and am experiencing problems with the cocking lever / effort.

The gun is new to me, so needing to know if it is normal.

When cocking the lever upwards, the action is not smooth. I can hear a slight grinding sound. On further inspection, the screw that attaches the cocking lever is slightly worn on the contact edge. It feels like either the probe that seals the breech or the hammer inside the gun are either worn or dry of any lubrication.

I did remove the back plate and removed the hammer spring and hammer to inspect. There is clearly some wear to the back lower edge of this item, which is a bit of a concern.

Does anyone have any experience of fixing these with "high mileage." Very concerned that my much loved pistol is not very well.

I am also interested to know of any gunsmiths who may specialise in repairing these pistols. I get the feeling this could benefit from someone with experience.

    Many Thanks,

    No joy with Fultons

Hello, Thanks for the advice. Unfortunatley called them today and they were not terribly helpful. Gent I spoke to said they do not work on Morini's and that he did not know anyone who does. I'll be prepared to go abroad if needs be...

    Smile Morini to the rescue!!

    Good News!

I e-mailed Morini late yesterday afternoon, and they have replied back to me today.

The excellent reply is shown below. Great to recieve this level of support from a manufacturer! (And fairly unusual these days...)

"Dear Sir,I think the best way to solve your problem is to send here in the factory your Pistol, so we can do a complete revision (mechanical parts+ seals) because after 5-6 years of use we suggest to replace all the o-rings. After that we can say will be like a new gun. The problem can be some frictions between 162037 / 162038 / 162028 / 162029. You can try to polish a little bit the surfaces using some abrasive paper, but be careful....Can be also a deformation on the main frame (on the window where the pin 162028 goes forward/back). If is this problem we can build in a steel insert. Teflon or graphit grease is ok.For seals we use silicon oil. Please let me know"

I am very relieved to say the least. Will be sending the pistol as Morini suggest, great opourtiunity to have it brought back to GWO by the people who know it best.

Thank you both for the previous posts.

I will keep this post updated with results for others reference who may have a similar difficulty in the future.

    Morini 162

I have had one of these pistols from new - almost 16 years

In all that time it has worked perfectly other than a leak from the cylinder, many years ago
It was returned to Morini via Surrey Guns and repaired Free of Charge

There is, or was an agent in Birmingham(a National Squad Member) who serviced these pistols. He, Mick Gault and Nick Baxter in the GB team all use this pistol in International competition

They must be the best value serious match pistol available

    Problem solved

Thank you all for the replies.

Surrey Guns carried out a full service. All new seals and a strip/rebuild. Also replaced one faulty pressure gaugue on a cylinder. £160 GBP later, but at least it's fully sorted and should be good for another 8 years!

The gun is now working very smoothly. Shot 95 with it a couple of weeks ago, which is good for me. Bench rested on a pistol stand it puts a pellet through the same hole basically every time. Trigger is first class.

Now very happy. Gun now looks like new and works like new.
