    Crosman 2240

Hi, just wondering if someone could tell me how to remove the front sight from my 2240 pistol, any help appreciated

This is a bit brutal, try soaking the sight in scalding hot water,it`ll soften the plastic up enough that you can twist the sight off!

Try S D Designs, for neat Crosman stuff.

I use a wooden mallet to remove the front sights

Always buy from the US, far cheaper and better quality.

Really cheap when it comes to labour costs.
Plus a far, far greater range.

Just don't buy a Boss Valve.

It'll come off just with a smart tap (use a piece of softwood and tap it with a hammer)...easy

    Crossman front sight

The plastic front sight is keyed onto a flat machined on the end of the barrel. It won't twist off easily no matter how much heat you put into it.

Resting the pistol on a suitable surface, place a piece of wood on the rear-most flat edge and tap the sight off with a hammer. I found this advise on this site, but can't find the link now. It may have been on one of the american Crossman forums. Perhaps someone else can advise? Also try using the search facility in the tool bar above.

Don't follow the previous correspondant's advise, you will trash your sight un-necessarilly. I have done this, I know it works.

Hi I took the one off of my 2240 just to have a look as one dose by putting a piece of wood on the barrel and taping it with a hammer and the plastic sight slid off do not try to turn it as the barrel has a flat bit on the top to locate the sight and keep it on level.

Hi everyone on thanks for all the advice. Just tried the block of wood and hammer trick and off it came, easy

E-mailed Jim at crooked barn on Friday last week but no response as yet, seems to be well respcected on the bbs and good reports all round.

Was looking at TR ROBB on the net, any feedback on their breech/bolt units appreciated

Nice Gun Andy, me likes a lot, so much in fact that I have just ordered the ultimate breech unit and rosewood grips from crooked barn.. Can someone tell me if the breech is grooved for dovetail mounts or weaver rail as i want to stick a red dot on it when it arrives, and already have a hakko red dot for weaver bases.. Thanks chaps
