    leaky Rapid Mk1 help!

    hello everyone!
ive been lurking around but havent posted on the forum for ****** ages.

    first post back, a problem!

the last few times ive filled up my rapid, fired afew shots at the pesky maggpies, then put the gun away, ive come back the next day to find the tank empty.

when i leave the rifle, i leave the bolt in a "normall" position, not back, or not forward.

it means im having to fill my diving tank alot more often to fill the gun up.

ive read alot of posts on the forum about people with similar problems, but i aint sure how to deal with it.

is the o ring round the bottle just dodgy or is there something more major?

    all the best
    andy

P.S, does anyone know how much it cost to have the rifle sent back to Theoben for a MOT?

    No big deal to fix..

Almost certianly nothing to do with the bottle seal BTW...

More likely the valve or it's seals....

To check, fully charge the rifle, and put it away with the bolt closed, and with a balloon or similar "rubber-band" attached over the silencer - if it's leaking through the valve, the baloon will inflate over time...

    Let us know..

Just leave it over night, see if the baloon (or similar) - oh grow up! is errr, erect.

A sure indication of a leek at the exhaust valve; could be a scarred face in the case of an acetal valve, bu6ered 008 white seal if its a stainless unit, or a slightly bent stem.

    yup, the balloon is inflated

bunged a balloon over the end, went upright within seconds.

that was with the bolt forward.

i hope this may give you more clues, anoyone know what to do now?

    thanks once again

if it is not the seals on the valve. it could be the valve stem it,s self. ie bent (hope you have not got the power adjuster screw turned too far in.if so £12 from guns international. hope that helps

    thanks Wazb and Mark!

i presume the £42 is for a service with Theoben?

to be honest, i havent got the foggiest about the internals of the rifle,

If it looks as though there is no simple solution, e,g a new washer or something, i will try to persuade my dad to let me get it serviced.

    thanks once again
