    How much power is needed...

for a clean rabbit kill. With all these posts about the law etc etc, I've just slightly down rated my gun to just over 11ft/lb from 11.96 with H&N FTT.

I'm just wondering about how much power is really required at penetration point ??

As said, a long as its over 4fpe at impact the shot will count.

My Raider (thanks Dave) kicks out around 11.5 with Prems and does the business no problem at 35yrds... not had any further targets as the rabbits are a bit thick on my shoots

found an old book about field sports that belonged to my grandad, there is a table of power for individual shot from a shot gun. the book is from the 60's so is probably a bit out of date but the power of a no.6 shot at 20 yds is only 2.8 ft/lbs. of coarse you hit them with a few shot but somtimes not that many.
