I'd like the email addy' of some rival country Olympic Comitee member for the games.
I'd be sure they were aware of our inadequate Olympic standard Pistol Shooting facilities.
Anyone know?

This should help clear things up...
http://www.cnn.com/WORLD/9706/12/britain.handgun/
...IIRC the conservatives voted for a ban on centre fire handguns (which was bad enough) with a view to getting more information and making a decision on smallbore pistols in the future. Labours contrary stance during the run up to the election was to decree that they would instigate a total ban on all handguns...which they did.
lol...I'm always getting my Hamiltons mixed up
Cheers

There were two Firearms (Amendment) Acts in 1997. The Firearms (Amendment) Act 1997 included exemptions for 'small-calibre pistols', i.e. .22lr pistols. The Firearms (Amendment) (No. 2) Act 1997 removed these exemptions.Originally posted by MikB
Excuse me but I think that's wrong. I don't believe anything changed between Tory and Labour governments on this issue,
#1 was passed under the Tories, #2 was Labour fulfilling their commitment to remove all handguns from the streets of Britain.
