    scope identification help

    "ZF 6x42 -M-"
    "DDR"

On the section in front of the eye piece

    Gloss finish.

"ausJENA" on one of the turret caps.

the number 370526 on the windage ff adjuster.

Decent optics. The eyepiece holder has a ridge where it joins the rest of the body, ie where the taper starts for the 1" section. Could have been better made.

Not sure if its Zeiss or another German MFR in DER Deutche Demokratic repulic as was

I think thats Zeiss, one thing to be aware of is that the body tube will very likely be 26mm rather than 1" which is going to restrict your choice of mounts, bet the optics are good though.

Let me know when the rail arrives BTW, I'm posting it later today

could be zeiss or hensoldt as both these companies use a ZF prefix but should be extremely well made.

Most German manufacturers will use the letters ZF somewhere, because it's short for ZielFernrohr which means 'telescopic sight'

My father had some quite expensive camera lenses with jena on. These I think were a slightly cheaper make of some thing else(sorry brains gone dead). They were eastern german rather than western. They were however highly regarded.

26mm it is, now I've got another problem, haha.

Can any one help with modifying std rapid mounts or ones to go on a weaver rail.
I'll wait for it to arrive so I'll have a better idea of what i want.

Presumably get some 1" mounts then clamp them together on a lathe somehow and make a !/2mm cut.

I've got some standard Rapid mounts, I'll take a look later to see if there is enough meat on them to bore them out to 26mm.
Aother option would be 30mm mounts with a reducer sleeve.
