Which spring compressor?

elloo.... I'm trying to restore an ancient springer and i'm wondering what type of spring compressor to use to get the mainspring out without killing myself...

halfords has a myriad of options... any ideas?

Use a large clamp. Like the ones used to hold cabinets together and suchlike. Dunno the proper name, but they work well.
