Look what a very nice man made for me...

Sometimes you never know what is around the corner..

A while back I bought a Falke 90 from good guy Serowman, and as some of you may know these are very rare airguns!

I met up with Roger and we did the deal. I was delighted with the gun,the only down side was that it was missing its rearsight, which Roger pointed out, however it was mounted with a lovely period german scope, so I was still able to use the gun. I already possessed a Falke 80, however the 90 is the flagship of the range, and I was really pleased that I had finally got one.

I tried to get another rearsight for the gun however I had no joy, and had almost given up when I was introduced to a friend of a friend ,also very interested in airguns who had a lathe in his workshop and who had dabbled in making replacement gun bits for some of his old guns.

The friend who introduced us, told him about my Falke 90, and he offered to make me a replacement back sight from scratch - based on the original rearsight I had on my Falke 80. Well within 2 weeks he rang me to say the sight was finished and that could I bring the gun around to make sure it fitted OK. Well I was speechless. Considering that it was made in a garage and that before he started he had to repair the original sight in order to dismantle it, the sight is a wonder.
The bloke didnt want any payment for the sight, however I managed to barter some stuff, in payment for all his hard work. I have posted some pictures of the scratch built one next door to the original.

There are some very clever people about........ and I am very envious of his talents......

Having been an apprenticeship trained engineer in a past life (ended about 25 years ago now to be exact), I have to say that imo that is craftsmanship at it's very best -- superb work indeed. Thanks for showing us . Atb: Gareth.

An astounding piece of craftsmanship! Any chance of a picture of it adorned on the rifle itself? Never heard of a Falke air rifle.

    Hi,
Like Gareth I am an apprentice trained engineer and now after 28 years as an engineer I work in the training of apprentice engineers.
I also make a few of my own parts on my own lathe and restore and repair both spring and pneumatic guns, but that made my jaw drop.

The man has more patience than me, and that will have taken him a few days of work, and a lot of hand skills as well as machining ..

    Amazing!!

Thanks for all the kind comments about the new rearsight. Like I said I was rendered speechless when I saw it . Brilliant job I thought. He said that he heat coloured it as he doesnt use hot blue tanks.

here are a few more shots of the sight on the gun so that you can see that is actually fits

As the others have said - a stunning piece of work - fair play to the man, what a craftsman!
