HW 100. Maybe it is not perfect after all?

Having watched BBS fairly carefully over the last year it seemed the Weihrauch HW100 was/is the Bees Knees and the dangly bits of the local canine.

    However....

    Just recently.... ish...

There seems to be a lot of posts with people having problems. I appreciate that there are now a lot of them out there and therefore reported goods/bads will increase in numbers, but I have to say..

Is the crown tarnishing somewhat ???

Is it maybe not perfect after all ??

Sorry Fluffy.... But... well.... has to be said..
The list is shortened..... but still distinguished.

They leak air quite a bit as reported by my local gun shop, just a little bit fiddly to sort out but not the end of the world, afterall a few PCP's suffer with this.

I've had a HW100 for some time now and it hasn't yet missed a beat.

It is however a pre anti-tamper and doesn't suffer from the typical German solution to our anti-tamper anti-legislation that later models do.
If you do have the later model and have power problems it can be difficult to sort for a lot of people (I know it can be done).

What it does have however is the best indexing mag system and single shot adaptor you can get.

    Altogether a first class rifle.

Well the first thing is, I dont remember ANYONE saying the HW 100 was perfect, I dont think any gun is perfect, there must thousands of HW100s out there, but we only see the posts where the HW100 has gone wrong, I have five mates all with HW100s,and they have never missed a beat, as Ray says the best single shot loading of any multi shot rifle out there

I bought a second hand HW100T (Mk 2) pre A.T. with the Venom, lighter, quick fill cylinder. Todate, after many thousands of shots the rifle remains fault free and its got one of the best, trouble free magazine (cheapest! ) systems I have seen on a pcp.
    Great rifle.

I am not suggesting there is anything unusual wrong with them. It's just that in the last couple of months there have been a growing number of threads about problems with them. Not just the AT either.

I am currently trying to decide between the 100S which is ugly, heavy and the cheapest, but also has a fab reputation and is regged, the new 510 which is gorgeous to look at, very light, costs more for the same spec but isn't regged and the Daystate Huntsman Classic which I have not yet seen and will also cost more.

At around £700 I want to make the right decision.

I have to agree....from an aesthetics pov, the 100 is horrible, it looks as tho it has hit every branch on the ugly tree as it fell out but tbh I have never heard a word against them apart from being a bit heavy.

Personally I prefer the feel of Air Arms but as has been said elsewhere on the board, ultimately it comes down to whatever gun works for you.

Handle and if possible shoot all three.

They are different and the one to choose is the one that feels most comfortable and fits you best.

I agree mate They are far from ugly. take a look at mine in the newer sport stock nice grain (see siggy)

the magazine and single shot adapter are brilliantly engineered! not had mine long but the shot count for a 9inch tank and accuracy are excellent.

will not be swapping anytime soon

by the way, I looked long and hard at the AA510 nice rifle smooth cocking action but for the same spec as the HW100 worked out quite a bit dearer.
and not the same build quality at all.
dont get me wrong the AA range are quailty rifles I traded my much loved AA400 in for the HW100 and have a GML version for targets.
but for hunting the HW100 takes it any day of the week.
