    Question Theoben Evolution spares?

Hi guys, if any of you could give me some info or answers for the Q's I have then I am eternally grateful

Out of interest, other than Theoben, who else supplies spare parts for the Theoben Evolution?

I am specifically after the part of the cocking arm which enters the chamber, which I presume compresses the ram (is it the linkage?) .........I have contacted Theoben and they said, as there are so many different cocking linkages I would have to post it too them and it would cost around £20 (plus labour I presume)....But I am thinking I could fit this part myself and that would mean I dont have to pay postage or labour costs

I have contacted Ben Taylor & Sons, but sadly they do not work on these rifles anymore

    Any help is appreciated

    ATVB,
    Tom

If the cocking shoe is broken, then either:
    1.
Your rifle's barrel has been opened while the stock is off.
    2.
The rifle has had a hard life and may need a service.
    3.
A home tuner has overpressurised the ram - and probably damaged the piston seal.

I haven't seen Theoben spares anywhere other than Theoben.
Surely, from the serial number, they could determine which cocking shoe was needed.
But I think that Theoben prefer to service their own rifles, rather than let us tinker with them. When I had a broken cocking linkage, although I could have easily done it myself if I had the parts, I dropped it off at Theoben, since I'm not far away from their factory. I can't remember why I didn't do it myself, other than perhaps being unable to source the part. It cost me about £20.

I thought it would be you who answered first Fluffy

Too cut a long story short, I have recently received a nice GINB stock for my evo and the inletting is slightly out (and I mean slight) but it is where the barrel breaks and I wanted to cock the rifle to see how much wood has to be removed ..........So it is basically my fault (silly I know )....I wonder if Theoben could remove the small amount of wood?

I think I may send the rifle in to Theoben be repaired, then have the rifle serviced and checked over the chrono and possibly get the stock modified?

I will try and contact Theoben tomorrow or Thursday and see what they say

    Red face service

Hi tom, I recently had my HW90 serviced at Theoben and it cost £58, as to what you get for your hard earned dosh I asked the 'ever so helpful' lady in the pinafor and she said 'ooh I'm not sure the seals and stuff'.!!!
So maybe a phone call would be of help !!

    Good luck

    Dave

Last time I looked (last year), it was about £55. I expect prices will have gone up a bit now.
I would make a guess that you get a strip, relube, a new set of ram seals, breech seal and a new piston seal. Then the gun will be set for 11+ftlb.
I think that just the full set of seals (ram+piston+breech) are about £20-30 to buy from Theoben (but I suppose if you can't collect, they'd have to be sent to your RFD).

This is only the case with new guns & FAC, non-new sub 12 can be sent direct.

I though that you could have spares fitted at the factory without having to do face-to-face (just send the gun via courier), but I thought that if you wanted spares to fit yourself, you had to collect from a RFD.
But we can still buy V-Mach kits.

    Now I'm confused.

    Yes thats about it

Some pressure bearing parts are subject to the VCR such as pistons & cylinders, where as springs & seals are not (V-Mach kit). I'd think a gas strut assembly would be restricted but to be honest you'd have to ask Theoben. There seems to be much confusion within the industry, one supplier will say thats fine and your parts are in the post, another will only deal with another RFD or in person. I'm sure it will sort it's self out in time.
