Looks fairly good, but I allways try to research before I buy if I can.

Take a look at the overall rating on this:

Perhaps they are reviewing the .22 (its smooth bore) but the .177 should be a little better as its rifled barrel

got a feeling the S2 .177 is rifled barrel and the .22 is smothbore, be worth checking if the XS3 is the same...

It sounds like a piece of junk.

Thanks for posting the Review, Tony.

It certainly seems like it! I went into the city last Friday for a springer pistol (desperate to get my UBC score card done(dedication huh?))

I went into Hutchinsons and they only had 2 springer pistols. One the Webley Typhoon (which looks & feels horrible and has appaling reviews) the other was an SMK s3 Pistol.

I decided to take a trip to Duncans in the hope that they may have had something half decent, but wasnt that hopeful!

    I came away with a HW70
Bit more than I expected to spend (Well a hell of a lot actually) but it was second user and it was half the price of a new one So came home happy (much to Lesleys disaproval!!)

To think I nearly came home with a piece of junk!!

Hi Karl, I'm not one to tell some not to get a pistol, as not everyone can afford a good starter pistol, but if you can cancel your order and put the money towards something else, search the for sale section on here and put a wanted add in the wanted section, if you can find another £50 on top of what the S3 cost you, you could pick up a good umarex Co2 or Gamo Compact, HW40, Beeman P3 too name a few.

I'm sure you will have fun killing coke cans with the S3, but with one of the above you can at least attack targets as well.

So you could join the UBC and shoot in our Comp.

I'm REALLY interested in knowing how you like that HW 70, Tony, as I'm thinking about getting a springer to round off my small shooting collection - already have an SSP and a CO2 - and the HW 70 should be great for our postal comps.

    Hw 70

    Hi Jim,
In answer to your question, I am liking it a LOT

I need to adjust the trigger as I'm use to much firmer triggers

    Have a look at http://www.1gl.com/page3.html

I have to agree with most; if not all of whats said. However; the model I have is an old one and does not have a safety catch, which I personally like (I hate having to remember to take em off!).

In the States there marketed as Beeman HW70A.

If you want a Spring Pistol. I would recommend it highly

Hunting with pistols is a no-no.

Even with a decent one like a HW45 it's not the best idea, from what I've read about these, if you shot one from any distance you'd be lucky to hit it and even if you shot it at point blank, you'd be lucky to kill it with the low power.

Pistols are NOT suitable for hunting, and we do not offer advice on 'powering up' airguns.

Please don't even consider shooting live animals with that pistol or any other, OK?

    Thanks.

Don't think anything else needs to be said.

Thanks for the review, Tony. The lighter trigger would probably not be a problem for me: I much prefer the lighter trigger of my P3 over that of my Umarex Smith.
