Can you elaborate on why you were less than impressed by the 4-12 R/A? Was it purely in respect of the price differential compared to the Timberline or was there some percieved defficiency?

Another edit: barring the slight difference in mag and target turrets I'm struggling to see much difference in specs between the R/A and Timberline models, they certainly have the same eye relief specs. Looks like I might have to save a bob or two and give the Timberline a whizz, if I can find one.
you will have the opposite mate,
way easier to mount a long eye releif scope on a pcp,may have trouble on a springer.
if any problems on a pcp,i should think reach forward mounts will sort it.
    nice review.
to find one will be hard over here and getting one shipped from usa will be very hard as most companys are refusing to ship to uk due to a law thats just been issued in the last year or so,even evil bay sellers are refusing to ship here.

Depends entirely on how the rail splits and just how long the eye relief is. I've had to use reach forwards with some normal eye relief scopes in the past. These have an extra inch or two on most scopes and it may not be possible to mount them properly even with reach forwards.

After a little chat with the uk importers of Burris optics, GMK.

They said that they felt the Timberline wouldn't be suitable for the UK market in 2008.

But it will be available late spring 2009.

However, i'm very impatient and have ordered from the US, don't tell the wife.
Theoben MFR CS800 .177/Burris Timberline, Theoben Evo .177/ Burris Timberline, BSA Supersport .25, Haenel XX, BSA Ultra .177/ Burris Timberline.

Translation : We don't have a clue about the airgun market and at the price we will sell them we don't expect them to shift!

Has anyone successfully ordered one of these scopes from the States recently?

Looks like just what I am after.
