Talking My first fly! (Like a 'my first fox/rabbit/squirrel' thread but smaller...)

Well I picked up a new (2nd hand) Bushnell Elite 4200 4-16x40 thanks to Ian (NEWFI) for my Daystate today so had a play getting it zeroed.

The gun is a Mk3 Sport FAC running at 30fpe and I fitted the scope using BKL mounts. I've gone for a 35yd zero using 21gn H&N Barracuda Match. I'd normally zero at 45yds with AA Field but wanted to try the heavier pellets for around the farm, with a shorter zero. I'll have to experiment fully for the trajectory/POI's next week but I've attached a couple of pics from my firt zero session today.

I've attached some pics in the link below- Groups were 5 shots on a 'Bisley' target card and taken in the FT seated position. First group in the centre was on 10x mag and the top group fired on 16x mag. The shot at the top was an unfortunate fly in the wrong place, wrong time! Ok, perhaps 21gn and 30fpe is a bit of overkill for a blue bottle but I just couldn't resist... Shows what an FAC Mk3 Sport can do when you concentrate though...

I know dead animal shots aren't allowed, so if the mods want to remove it that's fine and I apologise for any offence caused to any fly lovers on the bbs!

when we have a summer ,if you are in woods and if you look up into the canopy ,you will notice fly,s sun bathing on the side of the trees, it is good practice for laerning your diffrent angles ,for when your are after woody,s or squrrel,if there is no game about ,i have spent many good days practicing my angles on these bug carring fly,s,try it you will become abetter shot when after woody,s hope this helps, ken
