Lightbulb Single Stroke Multi shot pnumatic

Following on from another thread i thought it deserved its own!

Has one ever been designed and only got that far or do you know other wise.

It seems that this could answer many shooters dreams of a recoilless rifle without the need for the big bottle and hose to worry about.

With advances in technology a system that is easy on the muscles should have been developed by now shurley?

    What are your thoughts?

How much would you pay for one?

cool - my post sparked a new thread!

For ref, here's how I envisioned it:

Fair comment on the availability of PCPs thing, for me a multi-stroke pneumatic would also be too much hassle for my style of shooting...

    However - picture this:

PH Dragon system - single stroke, full power.

Combined with a magazine system (rapid style etc)

Using the sidelever automatically indexes the magazine and cocks the hammer.

Single stroke multishot - I know I'd use one!
If it worked smoothly then it would be a genuine rival to PCP, as you get *most* of the convenience (no fiddly reloading, no recoil etc) without the hassle of a pump/bottle - ideal fo those that don't live near a dive shop!

Price would depend on quality, but I could see this being a popular product if it was taken on..

How about a quality multi-pump rifle giving two shots per charge with a two shot shuttle system? That would be a practical field rifle.

    Errrr..

Double Express pumped up and had two barrels, it's enough to tempt me to start collecting.

I'm sure sombody can contribute all the details.

    Totally agree.
Wonder why it hasn't been done?
Could it have something to do with the amount of effort required to produce a full charge capable of close to 12ft.lbs. with a single stroke?

    Adrian,

I was reading some Bowkett articles in some old Airgun Worlds and he did a lot of reasearch in this area. I think he managed to get more than two consistant shots . I think it was a sort of survival gun and a modified jb1. You never know if you give him a ring he might be able to empty your pockets for you

I have tried the Mohalk and the Dragon and for my money the cocking is significantly easier on

Talking of lightening pokets I'm thinking of getting a spartan. Have you got yours yet?

The Dragon took very little effort to cock, but required swinging the sidelever in a huge arc, so it was a little unwieldy and about as stealthy an operation in the field as performing semaphore. If memory serves it was quiet to charge though - none of the "clacking" of the Sharp pump-ups.

    Hello Alex....

JB has indeed built one off rifles with integral pumps - I bought one of his single stroke guns and I know he has built rifles with more than one shot capability. I have been trying to twist his arm to build something for me for a couple of years

Talking of wallet-emptying I wrote a cheque for nearly £1100 to Mr Whiscombe a few days ago as the final payment on my new toy, and will be transferring whatever 650 euros is in real money to a nice man in Russia next week for one of those fantastic looking bullpups he builds, so it's a bit of a heavy month

I've had a Spartan for a couple of years, in .20. Beautiful rifle but to be honest it doesn't get much use, I find it a big lump to carry

What nobody interested in the two barrel design??

I would really like to try a Double Express and it’s just got to be great for bunny bashing.

One of the members of the crosman forum made a rifle using in effect 2240 body tubes and barrels mounted on 1 pistol grip, Ugly but unique.

Gotta have a means of micro adjusting one of the barrels to match the direction of the other though.

Instead of using a large lever to get purchase for the compresion stroke could it have some kind of gearing system or pully like the compound bows to reduce movement?
    good ideas though

There is another two barrel design called a 'Wildcat 3000'.
This is a pre-charged rifle, and was reviewed in one of the air gun comics in April 1995.
It was based around a modified Vulcan stock and two Webley barrels, with a buddy bottle attached underneath.
I forget who made it but he was a specialist in one offs, or in this case I believe three off.
I know someone who has one of these for sale, but I haven't managed to see or fire it yet.

    Red face BLIMEY is right!

I thought you didn't hit FAC level in .177 until it reached over 800-900fps!?

Haven't seen any review on it yet, but I'll keep this thread in mind if I do.
