    Walther CP99 problem

I am having a problem with my cp99. The magazine does not index every time, most of the time, but not every time. Also the whole thing seems graunchy when pulling the trigger. When no magazine is in it is fine so it obviously is to do with the indexing some how. I have tried loads of different mags and pellets but nothing seems to help. I feel a strip down may be required. Does any one have directions or instructions for a complete strip down for me. Even instructions to remove the barrel etc at one end and the valve group at the other. There appears to be no screws just pins. Is that correct or am I missing some thing? Just one thing which seems to point to there being a problem is that if you take a line of sight on the bottom of the slide, the bottom rails are not in line. I think someone may have dismantled this before and it was not assembled correctly. It works sometimes but sometimes it needs 2 pulls on the trigger to fire. It is difficult to explain. I could send photos of the slide arrangement to better explain what I mean about the alignment issue

I have attached these photos to try to explain what I feel may be causing the problem. What I am looking at is the front section of the rear slide is higher than the rear and higher than the rear section of the front slide. The bottom of the rear slide is not parallel with the frame. When you hold the pistol in your hand it doesnt look right. We are only talking thou,s here but if that stops the magazine locating pin and the magazine indexing pawl aligning correctly then I imagine it would give me the problem I am now experiencing. As I said before, I purchased this secondhand but apparently it had new seals put in before I bought it so if that is the case I think it was assembled incorrectly.

Yes cleaned and oiled. I have a 92PPC and a CP88 and they do like a bit of oil. This is the only one giving me trouble, although my Baikal 654 is now exhausting gas through the valve, not the seals. That is another story. Another job to do later when I have this one sorted.

I have a very similar problem with a CP99. I t has always been as you describe, slightly graunchy to cock. It is now not cycling properly so that some pellets don't line up with the barrel properly and therefore jam. I ended up taking it to CHWestons in Brighton yesterday. If they sort it out I wll feed back to you.

I got in touch with Brococks today and I will be sending it to them to have a look at it and hopefully sort out the problem. I will feedback to you also. Lets hope we have something to smile about. I remember I took an air pistol into a RFD for repair once and I got it back in bits. He disassembled it but couldnt put it back together so I am now a little wary of RFD,s

I also spoke to Brococks and they suggested I send it in. Trouble was, by the time you add postage to the service and repair it came to more than I paid for the pistol (secondhand!). The chap I was talking to at Westons seemed very knowledgeable about it, so here's hoping.

It will be interesting to compare notes afterwards!

    CP 99 and Brococks

Got my CP99 back today. It cost me 40 odd squids but it is working a treat. Very smooth and everything does as it should. Shot off 7 mags in quick succession and all seems well. Time will tell but at the moment it is fine. They fitted a new pawl and serviced it. Seems expensive I suppose but that includes parts and postage. No more expensive than having a gun sitting there that wont work!! Now I want a good left hand practical holster for it, any one got any ideas??
