Stripping a Skif, Am I being dumb?

I'm the proud new owner of a Skif A-3000 and never one to be satisfied until I've taken things apart to lube and clean etc I'm stumped.

I've looked at this video (mine's the Nickel slide version rather than the lb) and followed it.

    1. Put both assembly knobs to the down position.
    2. Pulled back the slide till it engages on the slide release catch.

and that's as far as I got, even with a fairly firm upwards pressure the slide doesn't release from the main body.

So what am I doing wrong

    Keep Pulling

You are probably doing nothing wrong, i just got off here an A3000 LB and it's a real pig, so like you i wanted to strip it and got as far as you did and no further. I downloaded the manual and it says you really do need to put some force behind it, and boy do you. when you get to the point you think you are going to pull the whole pistol apart keep going, i recommend using gloves to save your hands. Mine did come off but i really can't believe how much effort you have to put in to do it. it was worth it all oiled and greased and the slide is lovely and smooth, though my donkey still won't shoot double action.

Hope this helps in some way.

Cheers Jason, I was a bit worried that I was going to damage it if I pulled it any harder (I though I missed a clip or something)

    Now where's me gardening gloves

Oh almost forgot, I molyed the magazine as recommended in a thread on here and it makes a heck of a difference to.

Did you have to strip the mag to do it?

I didn't bother, just introduced a very small amount of moly in the loading port between the pellet holders and an even smaller amount on top and ran it round a few dozen times and it's made quite a difference in the smoothness.

Got it apart btw (thanks) a quick oil up and the slides much better thanks

    Corrected for you

I have to say after a clean up and lube where necessary (it was a s/h pistol btw) the top slide and mag are a lot smoother. Off to the club tomorrow to give it a good hammering.

    Point taken Tony,

But more to the Point, why isn't Mr. SpikeG a UBC member, I can't believe that i have 4 people interested in becoming members and not one has sent there details to me and the first one that does will be our 100th member with some UBC freebies thrown in, and no one has jumped at the chance.

Come Spike take up the challenge and join the UBC and shoot in our on-line competition.
