The above is my experience to. If the sun shines they can be seen in daylight, but if you have plenty of them on your shoot, at this time of year 6pm-6am is best. In the summer get on site around 3.30am and it should be good for 2-3 hours. At this time of year we used to take 20-30 most nights on the stubble around 2am.
