On my patch, the numbers increase later at night and into the smal hours. Latest I have been out to is 4am but got such greif from her indoors (as I was up to do go to work at 7.30 later in the morning ......

Weather, region, warren habits vary. What you do one week and see loads of coney will not necesarilly repeat itself if you try the same thing 2 weeks later

my therory is they feed all night reason- last weekend i was up in scotland deer stalking and the caravan site is home to quite a few bunnys, they come out at before dark and when i woke up at 2am because the dogs were growling i had a quick shifty round the place there were about 30 on the whole place and the site isnt huge must be less than 20 vans and its in the middle of no where frezzing cold, then when i wake up at 6 for deerstalking there still out so they feed from like 6pm till at the least 6am maybe longer .
then there out on the odd occasion during the day, they just eat and eat

The above is my experience to. If the sun shines they can be seen in daylight, but if you have plenty of them on your shoot, at this time of year 6pm-6am is best. In the summer get on site around 3.30am and it should be good for 2-3 hours. At this time of year we used to take 20-30 most nights on the stubble around 2am.

Rabbits best time of the year has gone now for this year, you may get bigger bags at night but the weather plays a big part, early mornings you can pick a few up paddocks seem to be more active in the mornings on my shoots good luck.
